VoiceBridge FAQs
Q: What does it mean to be on VoiceBridge network?
A: To get your phone activated in the VoiceBridge network, you need to purchase a pay-as-you-go plan or a monthly unlimited plan. Once activated, you are on the network. For detailed information regarding the calling plans click here.
Q: What equipment do I need to make a call on the VoiceBridge network?
A: You need a broadband internet connection, a computer on which you have downloaded a softphone and a headset. If your computer has a built in microphone and speaker, you do not need a headset. Alternatively, you can make calls from your plain old telephone set (POTS) if you buy a SIP phone adapter. You connect your adapter to the internet and your phone to the adapter. You can then make calls as usual with your POTS.
Q: Can I call anybody in the world using my VoiceBridge phone?
A: Yes. You can call anybody, both those on the VoiceBridge network and those not on the network. The difference is that you make free calls to those on VoiceBridge network, but pay our very low call tariffs for calls made to phones outside of the VoiceBridge network.
Q: I am told that with some service providers, you can pay a fixed amount to cover the cost of unlimited phone calls in a month.
A: You can purchase a monthly unlimited plan for either residential or business use, which allows you to make unlimited calls for a fixed amount paid each month. Click here for more details about the monthly unlimited call plans.
Q: Do I have to buy a phone adapter from Altokom?
A: No. You can bring your own SIP adapter. Tell us which SIP adapter you have and we can help you configure it to work on the VoiceBridge network. Please make sure that the adapter has not been locked by your previous network operator.
